Police have launched investigations into the death of a 20-year-old student of the University of Cape Coast, who was found dead days after she was reported missing.
The deceased, identified as Innocentia Avinu, a Level 200 UCC student of the university, was discovered on a beach after she had been declared missing.
According to reports, Innocentia was last seen after informing friends that she was leaving campus to meet an acquaintance outside the university community.
Police have, meanwhile, dismissed earlier reports suggesting that some of the student’s body parts were missing. Authorities say preliminary examinations found no evidence to support those claims.
The Central Regional Police Command has clarified that the only visible injury observed on the body was a bruise above one of her eyebrows, adding that no other signs of mutilation were detected.
Investigators have described the case as a serious incident and say efforts are underway to establish the exact circumstances surrounding her death.
The discovery of her body has sparked concern among students and residents, with many calling for a thorough investigation and justice for the deceased.
Police say further details will be made available as investigations continue.
