Nana Otupiri Darko has urged the government to pay teachers their full entitlements while calling on teachers to remain out of the classroom until their salary concerns have been properly addressed.
Speaking during a panel discussion on the Orange sunrise on Tuesday 29th September , 2026, Nana Otupiri Darko questioned why government leaders and officials have received increased salaries and arrears while teachers have remained unpaid for a considerable period.
He argued that if paying teachers is considered a burden on the economy, then government officials and leaders should also not be paid. He stressed that the ongoing teachers’ strike should not be called off until all arears are settled
He further raised concerns about teachers who have been posted to rural areas, noting that promised incentives for such postings have not been provided.
Nana Otupiri Darko also criticized teacher union leaders for allegedly accepting envelopes and encouraging teachers to return to the classroom without ensuring that their full outstanding salaries have been paid.
He has therefore called on the government to address the situation and ensure that teachers receive what is due them and call off the strike.
