Nana Oye leads female appointees to pay homage to Asantehemaa.
The Deputy Chief of Staff in charge of Administration,Nana Oye Bampoe Addo and other female appointees have paid homage to the ASantehemaa,seeking her support for a partnership between women in government and female traditional leaders to address issues with women,children and the aged.
The delegation led by Nana Oye Bampoe Addo,included Nana Yaa Jantua, presidential staffer ,Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Shamima Muslim; Deputy Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Rita Naa Odoley Sowah; female Members of Parliament; Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department, COP Lydia Donkor; Chief Fire Officer, Daniella Mawusi Ntow Sarpong; female CEOs and their deputies; female MCEs and DCEs; and other female government appointees.
The visit of these honorable women was at the request of President John Dramani Mahama and the Vice President of Ghana.
Nana Oye speaking on behalf of the delegation said the visit was to congratulate the Asantehemaa on her enstoolmemt and seek her leadership in promoting the interest of women and the vulnerable.
“This is very significant for all of us, and the Asantehemaa represents all Queen Mothers and female leaders in Ghana.Asantehemaa has been enstooled, and we haven’t had this large number of women in governance before, so we came to seek her support, pay homage to her, and wish her well.
“We’re urging Asantehemaa that we want to fight for progress, development and great values in Ghana, and we want her to be our leader so that together we will work to make Ghana a better place. So this is historic because it has never been done,” she said.
The Deputy Chief continued by reminding all Ghanaians about our inspirational icon,Nana Yaa Asantewaa who fought the British in defense of the Golden stool,which serves as a spirit and soul of Asanteman.
