Nigerian Afrobeats star Rema has addressed reports of an alleged disagreement between him and fellow musician Davido, describing the claims as rumours.
Speaking during an interview, Rema was asked about reports of tension between him and some artistes in the Nigerian music industry, including Davido. The singer dismissed the reports and said he has never had problems with other artistes.
“That’s rumours. Omo, that is rumours ooo. From day one, I’ve never had problems with artistes,” Rema said, while emphasising his respect for established musicians in the industry.
Rema added that he is focused on making music and has no interest in engaging in conflicts with his colleagues.
He also explained that he respects senior artistes and does not look for trouble with anyone. His comments have therefore sought to clarify his position on the alleged incident with Davido and distance himself from claims of a feud.
Rema started rapping at the age of 11 through church and school groups before forming a rap group called Rap Nation and later a crew known as Seven Dimension. At 15, after facing financial difficulties and the loss of his brother, he moved to Accra to work and support his family. His stage name, Rema, is derived from “Rhema,” a biblical term meaning the spoken word of God.
