Road users at some major junctions in Kumasi are raising concerns over non-functioning and unmounted traffic lights, with fears that the situation could lead to more road accidents.
At Atinga Junction, the traffic lights have been unmounted, leaving motorists and pedestrians to navigate the intersection on their own accord. The absence of the traffic signals has created uncertainty among road users, particularly during busy periods.
Meanwhile, at the Atonsu High School Junction, the traffic lights are reportedly not functioning, making it difficult to regulate the movement of vehicles and pedestrians. Road users say the situation has contributed to accidents at the junction and are calling for urgent intervention.
Residents and motorists are therefore appealing to the relevant authorities to repair the faulty traffic lights and reinstall those that have been removed.
With traffic volumes increasing in these areas, road users say immediate action is needed to restore proper traffic control and improve safety.
