The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has issued a public warning over alleged attempts by individuals to sell government road contracts under the flagship Big Push infrastructure programme, insisting that no project under the initiative is available for sale.
In a message shared on his X account, the Minister urged Ghanaians to disregard anyone claiming to have access to Big Push contracts and report such individuals to the police.
“BIG PUSH projects NOT FOR SALE. Report ANYONE offering a ‘Big Push project’ for sale to the nearest police station,” Mr Agbodza wrote.
The caution comes amid reports that some individuals are allegedly presenting themselves as intermediaries with access to contracts under the government’s major road infrastructure programme and offering those contracts to prospective buyers.
Mr Agbodza stressed that these claims are fraudulent and warned members of the public against engaging with anyone seeking money or other benefits in exchange for purported Big Push projects.
He further urged anyone who encounters such individuals to promptly report them to the nearest police station for investigation and possible prosecution.
The Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring transparency, accountability and due process in the implementation of the Big Push programme, emphasising that legitimate contract awards will follow the appropriate procurement and administrative procedures.
The Big Push initiative is one of the government’s flagship infrastructure programmes aimed at accelerating road construction and rehabilitation across the country. Mr Agbodza’s warning is intended to protect contractors, businesses and the general public from falling victim to fraudulent schemes exploiting the programme’s name.
