Ghanaian socialite Efia Odo has raised concerns about the rollout of the Ghana Police Service’s TRAFFITECH-GH system, calling on authorities to fix malfunctioning traffic lights while strengthening enforcement of road traffic laws.

In an X post on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, Efia Odo acknowledged the potential benefits of TRAFFITECH-GH but stressed that fixing existing road infrastructure should also be given priority.

Her remarks follow the Ghana Police Service’s efforts to deploy technology as part of measures to enhance traffic enforcement and promote adherence to road safety rules.

Efia Odo argued that deploying traffic cameras in areas where existing traffic lights are still malfunctioning could pose difficulties for motorists.

She wrote, “Traffic lights don’t work, but somehow y’all have a budget to install cameras? Great idea, but how about we get the lights to work first!!”

Her comments have since generated debate on social media, with users discussing the condition of traffic management infrastructure and how technology should be used to enforce road regulations.

TRAFFITECH-GH is designed to use technology to strengthen the enforcement of traffic laws, as authorities seek to promote greater road discipline and accountability among motorists.

Efia Odo’s comments have also brought renewed attention to the importance of pairing technology-driven enforcement with properly functioning traffic infrastructure in efforts to improve road safety in Ghana.
