‘Help me walk again’-a young girls call for support after surviving Ofankor-Pokuase crash.
A girl named Angelina Stickings who had lost both legs and her father in the deadly road crash that happened at Ofankor-Pokuase is appealing for support to help her recover regain mobility and get back to school.
She is receiving treatment at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital following the August,13,2026 road crash which claimed t12 lives and injured several others.
The reported accident involved multiple vehicles was triggered after a tricycle rider was knocked down leading to a chain collision.
The young girl survived the tragic accident but lost both legs and suffering injuries alongside.
Angelina’s family has decided not to tell her about her father’s death because they want her to recover peacefully.
As at now,the girl’s biggest wish is to get back to school.
The girl called for help in an emotional state saying ”I need you guys to help me,right now my stomach is paining me,i’m suffering in this hospital, you guys need to help me.
Angelina’s brother said the family has been overwhelmed by the cost of his sister’s treatment.
According to the brother,they have already spent Ghc200 million on her medical care while the family is still raising money to pay for prosthetic limbs to help her walk again.
Her brother is also pleading with government and other capable people to help support his sister.
We are preparing to do the leg because she is so desperate to get back to school.
Felix Owusu, the National Road Safety Authority’s Senior Planning Manager at the Greater Accra Office, says police investigations into the crash are still ongoing.
According to him, the driver of the tipper truck believed to have caused the crash initially but has been arrested and is assisting with investigations.
Owusu also prompted motorists that although the law permits higher speed limits on highways and motorways, passenger-carrying vehicles are subject to a maximum speed of 80 kilometres per hour.
He reached out to non-governmental organizations, civil society groups and philanthropists to support Angelina and other survivors with financial and psychological assistance. He said such support would help.
