At least 11 people have died, and 13 others sustained injuries after a multiple-vehicle crash on the Ofankor-Pokuase stretch of the Accra-Nsawam Highway.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said the crash occurred at about 4:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2026, between the Ofankor Barrier and the John Teye enclave.
The incident involved 24 people and seven vehicles, comprising two tipper trucks, two Sprinter buses, two saloon cars and a tricycle.
According to the GNFS, 11 victims died in the crash, while the 13 injured survivors were rescued and transported to the Achimota Hospital for medical attention.
Rescue teams from the Amasaman Fire Station and the GNFS headquarters were deployed to the scene after the accident was reported.
Speaking to Channel One News on Thursday, DO1 Emmanuel Bonnie said investigations had commenced to determine the circumstances that led to the crash.
The cause of the collision has not yet been established, and authorities have not provided further details on the identities of the victims.
The crash has also disrupted vehicular movement along the Ofankor-Pokuase stretch, with motorists experiencing delays as authorities work at the scene.
The GNFS is expected to provide further updates as rescue operations and investigations continue.
