The Ghana Police Service has foiled an attempted robbery at a GCB Bank branch in Labone, Accra, leaving two suspected robbers dead and another in police custody.
The incident happened on Thursday, August 13, 2026, when police officers intervened to stop the suspected robbery at the bank.
According to the Ghana Police Service, two of the suspects were shot dead during the intervention, while a third suspect was arrested.
In a brief statement, the Police said: “Two suspects have been gunned down and one has been arrested.”
The Service did not immediately disclose the identities of the suspects or provide details about how the attempted robbery unfolded.
It is also unclear whether any bank staff, customers or police officers sustained injuries during the incident.
The Police Service said further information on the case, including the identities of those involved and the circumstances surrounding the attempted robbery, will be communicated in due course.
The development comes as the Police continue investigations into the incident and the circumstances that led to the attempted attack on the GCB Bank branch.
