Football pundit Jamie Carragher has insisted that Liverpool must replace Mohamed Salah, and is unsure that Bradley Barcola is the right man to do so at Anfield.
The Reds have been linked with Barcola since the end of the 2025/26 season, but Carragher believes signing a right winger is more important than splashing a mammoth fee on the France international.
Barcola’s future in Ligue 1 has been up in the air for some time now, and he is believed to be worth around £130 million, according to reports.
The Villeurbanne-born star joined Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2023 but has not quite secured a place as one of the crucial players in the team, despite his wonderful performances.
He is looking for a move away from the Parc des Princes and many clubs in Europe are keen to secure his signature.
Carragher says his former club should not add another player on the left wing, as they already have a lot of talent fighting for that spot.
“He’s a great player, there’s no doubt about that – I’d love to get Barcola at Liverpool,” Carragher told Sky Sports News. “But he’s a left winger for me.
“Liverpool’s big thing that stands out like a sore thumb right now is replacing Mo Salah, a right winger. And I don’t think Liverpool have got anybody really in the squad who looks fully comfortable playing right wing.
“They probably have at least four players in the squad before Barcola joins, if he joins, who could play on the left-hand side comfortably.
“Now, I’m not saying any of those players are better than Barcola. But in terms of the balance of the squad, it’s not the position Liverpool need right now. They need a right winger.
“But if you’re saying to me, do I want Barcola to come and Liverpool are going to sign a right winger as well? I’ll be absolutely delighted because players would have to move on. Of course they would.
