A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) legal team, Victor Adawudu, has disclosed that former Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) Chief Executive Officer Sedina Tamakloe is currently in the custody of the Ghana Prisons Service following her extradition to Ghana.
His comments come amid allegations by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) that the government is shielding the former MASLOC boss, Sedina Tamakloe from serving a 10-year prison sentence imposed by the Accra High Court.
Speaking to Citi News on Wednesday, June 17, Mr. Adawudu dismissed the claims and insisted that the appropriate state institutions are carrying out the court’s directives.
“All I know is that there are appropriate authorities that are supposed to ensure that the orders of the court are being enforced. So, to my knowledge, she is in the hands of the Ghana Prisons and the security people,” he stated.
According to him, the enforcement of the court’s ruling remains the responsibility of state institutions and not political actors.
Mr. Adawudu further advised persons seeking additional details about Sedina Tamakloe’s status to make use of Ghana’s Right to Information Act instead of relying on speculation.
Sedina Tamakloe was sentenced in absentia by the Accra High Court to 10 years imprisonment after being found guilty of charges including causing financial loss to the state.
