GNFS has recovered the body of an 11 year old after a drowning incident at adenta

A coordinated search and recovery operation involving the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) and other emergency responders has ended with the recovery of the body of an 11-year-old boy who drowned at Adenta Aviation in the Greater Accra Region.

The victim, identified as Samuel Awalime, was found after emergency personnel spent several hours searching the area following reports of the incident.

According to the GNFS, firefighters from the Adenta Fire Station were dispatched immediately after receiving information that a child had drowned. The rescue operation, conducted on July 13, was led by Divisional Officer Grade III (DO III) Obosu.

The Service said personnel from multiple emergency agencies worked together throughout the operation in an effort to locate the missing boy before eventually recovering his body.

Following the recovery, Samuel Awalime’s body was handed over to the Adenta Police Division to support ongoing investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The Ghana National Fire Service has not disclosed how the drowning occurred or the events leading up to the tragedy.

Police are expected to investigate the incident to determine the exact cause of the drowning and whether any additional factors contributed to the child’s death.

The incident adds to concerns over child safety around open water bodies, particularly during periods when children are outdoors. Authorities have yet to release further details as investigations continue.
