The Ghana Education Service (GES) has taken disciplinary action against a teacher at Bole (SHS) Senior High School in the Savannah Region following allegations of inappropriate conduct involving a student.
The decision comes after a video purportedly showing a teacher of Bole SHS engaging in sexual misconduct with a student began circulating widely on social media, drawing public concern and prompting swift intervention from education authorities.
In a statement issued on June 16, 2026, the GES confirmed that it had initiated investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and determine whether any professional or legal breaches occurred.
As an initial administrative measure, the Service announced that the teacher has been interdicted pending the outcome of the investigation. The interdiction is intended to allow a fair and thorough inquiry while ensuring that the integrity of the investigative process is maintained.
According to the GES, the alleged incident raises serious concerns about professional ethics and the responsibility of teachers to maintain appropriate boundaries with students under their care.
The Service stressed that any form of romantic or sexual relationship between teachers and students is strictly prohibited and constitutes a violation of the standards expected of education professionals.
“Management strongly condemns all forms of amorous relationships between teachers and students,” the statement noted, adding that the Service maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward sexual misconduct within educational institutions.
The GES further emphasised its commitment to safeguarding students and creating secure learning environments across the country. It assured parents, guardians, and the general public that appropriate disciplinary and legal measures would be pursued should the allegations be substantiated.
The ongoing investigation is expected to establish the facts of the case and guide any subsequent action against the Bole SHS teacher involved.
