The Municipal Chief Executive of the Oforikrom Municipal Assembly has assured that the five legacy projects recently handed over to contractors should be completed by early next year.
This comes after the Assembly officially handed over several abandoned projects to contractors tasked with completing them.
Among the projects are the Municipal Assembly Block, the Municipal Judge Bungalow, the 14-Seater Toilet Facility, the MCE Bungalow and the Municipal Court. Speaking on the Orange Sunrise with Janice Opoku-Agyemang on Monday, August 10, 2026, the MCE for Oforikrom, Honourable Anwel Sadat, said contractors have resumed work on these projects with completion underway.
“The administration block, which is 60% completed, we have given the contractor eight months to finish, but he has promised to finish before time, so we are hoping we get good news from there. The court is about 90% plus completed”, he said.
“We should expect everything by January”, he emphasised.
Honourable Sadat also cited delayed payments to contractors as the major challenge that had stalled completion of these projects, while assuring that the municipality remains committed to completing abandoned projects.
The handing-over exercise, which took place on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, covers five key sites across the municipality, each at a different stage of completion:
1. Municipal Assembly Block, Appiadu — 60% completed
Handed over to Nikseth Construction Ltd, this multi-storey building is set to become a central administrative hub for the Assembly once works resume.
2. Municipal Judge Bungalow, Appiadu — 60% completed
Assigned to Construction Ambassadors, this residential facility will house judicial staff serving the municipality.
3. 14-Seater Toilet Facility, Kentinkrono — 30% completed
Also under Construction Ambassadors, this sanitation project is critical to improving public health infrastructure in the Kentinkrono area.
4. MCE Bungalow, Kentinkrono — 40% completed
Construction Ambassadors will continue work on this residence, which is intended for the Municipal Chief Executive.
5. Municipal Court, Boadi — 95% completed
The most advanced of the five projects, this facility is nearly ready and expected to be one of the first to reach full completion under the renewed push.
