The High Court has ordered the freezing of five bank accounts and four landed properties belonging to Dennis Miracles Aboagye. Mr Aboagye is the former Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCoD).
This legal action comes as part of an ongoing financial investigation led by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
Under the court order, all transactions involving the specified bank accounts are temporarily suspended. Furthermore, the court has prohibited the sale, transfer, mortgage, or disposal of the four properties until further notice.
This directive aligns with efforts by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to preserve key assets. Consequently, these assets will remain secured while investigations continue.
Currently, officials are investigating Dennis Miracles Aboagye over alleged financial irregularities. These claims involve approximately GH¢55 million during his tenure as Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCoD).
Because of these allegations, EOCO is examining specific transactions and procurement processes. Ultimately, investigators aim to determine whether any financial impropriety occurred during this period.
Under Ghanaian law, investigative bodies like EOCO can apply for preservation orders. Specifically, courts grant these orders when authorities suspect assets link to economic or organised crime.
These orders aim to stop the movement or disposal of assets. Consequently, authorities can preserve key evidence until they complete their investigations.
Meanwhile, Dennis Miracles Aboagye denied all allegations against him. He maintained that he committed no wrongdoing.
Currently, court officials have granted him bail set at GH¢50 million with three sureties. He will remain on bail while the investigation continues.
