Former Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has wished the Black Stars success as they begin their 2026 FIFA World Cup tournament. Ghana will open its tournament against Panama today, Wednesday, June 17, in Toronto, Canada.
In a message to the team, Dr. Bawumia described football as a sport that unites Ghanaians and brings people together across the globe. “Football has always been part of our identity as a nation. It unites us and connects people around the world,” he said.
He expressed confidence in the team’s ability to excel on the world stage and encouraged the players to take inspiration from their past achievements.
“Black Stars, you’ve done it before, and you can do it again. The whole nation is behind you, and I am behind you as well. Go Black Stars and strive for glory,” he said.
The Black Stars will be aiming for a winning start against Panama as they seek to advance beyond the group stage and make a strong impact at the tournament.
