Ghanaian dancehall star Stonebwoy has directly addressed Sarkodie following the rapper’s recent comments on fanbase toxicity, challenging his colleague’s consistency and calling out what he views as a lack of underlying industry principles.
Responding directly on X (formerly Twitter), Stonebwoy tagged Sarkodie and detailed a timeline of recent private phone calls and social media posts between the two megastars, offering a rare glimpse into behind-the-scenes conversations regarding artist unity, social media conduct, and industry ethics.
“After your RAH show in the UK, I called you the next day to congratulate you and we spoke for 10 minutes+. After my OVO, you posted the second video on social media… Whatever message you meant to send across, only you can explain,” Stonebwoy wrote, referencing recent high-profile international concerts by both acts.
Stonebwoy went on to explain that despite reaching out privately to discuss cryptic online posts, a subsequent hour-long conversation revealed a fundamental disagreement in their philosophies regarding industry standards and peer support.
“You called back immediately. I missed it, but I called you back after, and we spoke for more than an hour on industry, behaviors, and perspectives,” Stonebwoy shared. “You were very clear about how no artiste could be ‘forced’ to uphold any form of principle. That, literally, in our industry, artistes must play along so far as it benefits them, and it cannot matter how, because we all care about different things.”
