The wife of former National Food Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO) Chief Executive Officer, Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba, has asked the High Court to allow her to travel to the United Kingdom to facilitate medical treatment for their son.
Faiza Seidu Wuni, who is standing trial alongside her husband, has filed an application seeking a variation of her bail conditions to permit her to leave Ghana temporarily.
The application is scheduled to be heard on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.
Request follows similar application by husband
Mrs Wuni’s application comes shortly after her husband also asked the court for permission to travel outside the country.
Mr Aludiba reportedly sought leave to travel on medical grounds, while his wife’s application is based on the need to facilitate medical care for their son in the UK.
Under their existing bail conditions, the accused persons are required to remain within the court’s jurisdiction unless they obtain permission to travel abroad.
Prosecution raises concerns over timing
The prosecution has raised questions about the timing of Mrs Wuni’s application, particularly because it was filed only days after her husband’s request.
The state has reportedly expressed concerns about the sequence of the applications and questioned the circumstances surrounding the timing.
The defence, however, maintains that Mrs Wuni’s request is based solely on the medical needs of the couple’s son. The defence is expected to explain to the court why her presence in the United Kingdom is necessary and why the existing bail conditions shouldC be varied.
Court to determine whether travel request should be granted
The High Court is expected to hear submissions from both the prosecution and the defence before deciding whether to grant the application.
The hearing on July 28 is expected to focus specifically on Mrs Wuni’s request to travel and will not determine the substantive criminal charges currently before the court.
The couple is standing trial in a case involving allegations relating to the management of public funds and procurement processes, which the prosecution says resulted in financial loss to the state.
Both accused persons have pleaded not guilty and are contesting the charges.
The court’s decision on the travel application will determine whether Mrs Wuni can temporarily leave Ghana under revised bail conditions to attend to her son’s medical needs in the United Kingdom.
