The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of Bolgatanga Girls Senior High School (BOGISS) has called for a full and transparent investigation into the alleged sexual abuse of a 14-year-old student with special needs at the school.
The alleged incident reportedly involves two security personnel attached to the school, who have been arrested by the Ghana Police Service and interdicted by the Ghana Education Service (GES).
In a statement dated Monday, August 24, the Bolgatanga Girls Senior High School PTA said it was deeply concerned about the allegations and urged authorities to handle the case with urgency while ensuring that the rights and welfare of the affected student are protected.

The association strongly condemned the alleged incident, stressing that students entrusted to the care of the school must be protected from abuse, exploitation and other forms of harm.
The Bolgatanga Girls Senior High School PTA said the allegations were particularly disturbing because they involved a minor and called on investigators to establish the facts without delay.
It welcomed the swift arrest of the two suspects and their interdiction by the GES, but said the administrative actions should be followed by a thorough investigation.
The association also called for appropriate legal sanctions against anyone found culpable.
Student’s welfare must remain a priority
Beyond the criminal investigation, the Bolgatanga Girls Senior High School PTA urged the GES, the Department of Social Welfare and other child-protection agencies to ensure that the affected student receives appropriate support throughout the process.
It said the student should have access to counselling, medical care and protection, while steps are taken to safeguard her dignity and wellbeing.
The PTA also stressed that her education should not be unnecessarily disrupted as the investigation continues.
According to the association, any decision concerning the student’s status at the school should be guided primarily by her best interests and established child-protection principles.
Call for accountability and protection
The PTA said the case should be handled in a manner that ensures accountability while preventing further harm or distress to the student.
It urged all relevant institutions to work together to protect the student and ensure that the investigation is conducted professionally and transparently.
The association maintained that the safety of students must remain a shared responsibility involving school authorities, parents, security personnel, government agencies and child-protection institutions.
The PTA’s intervention adds to calls for swift action in the case, with attention now focused on the ongoing police investigation and the measures being taken to protect the affected student.
