Ghana Jollof, A Ghanaian TikToker wanted by Ghana police, has publicly challenged authorities to bring her back from the United Kingdom, insisting they won’t succeed.
Barbara Asantewaa Kodua, popularly known as “Ghana Jollof,” was declared wanted by the Ghana Police Service over alleged violent provocations and publishing false news. Police say she lives in the UK and used the account to post offensive, inflammatory content and misinformation likely to cause fear and alarm.
One video cited by police allegedly has her claiming there was an attempted coup because President John Mahama had angered some soldiers. Police say this prompted them to launch efforts to bring her before the courts.
In a TikTok interview, Kodua dismissed the prospect of extradition. She argued that British authorities would refuse to send her back if the case amounted to political persecution, and that she would return to Ghana only by choice.
The Adenta Circuit Court 1 in Accra remanded a senior nursing officer, Salomey Awiti Baffoe, for two weeks, accusing her of helping spread the account’s content. Police claimed Kodua paid her and others to share the material across social media platforms, and said they have uncovered financial transactions between the nurse and some high-profile individuals.
Kodua has denied any link, saying she has no personal relationship with the nurse, who she claims is not an active social media user. She called the arrest political persecution because they know the nurse’s husband, who lives abroad, is an active member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).
For now, Kodua remains in the UK. Police maintain she is wanted, and the case has raised questions about how Ghana could pursue suspects abroad when persecution claims are made. The allegations against both women have not been tested in court.
