The Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG ) is demanding an immediate, independent and transparent probe into the death of a lecturer at the Gbewa College of Education in the Bawku area.

The Association says the lecturer’s alleged violation of the curfew in the area cannot be used to justify his killing.

CETAG is therefore calling for a thorough investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the lecturer’s death and ensure that those responsible are held accountable.

The Association has also expressed concern about the security situation in Bawku, particularly the impact of the ongoing conflict on teachers and other education workers.

CETAG says the safety of lecturers and other staff must be prioritised, as they continue to work under difficult conditions in the area.

It is urging the relevant authorities to take steps to protect education workers and restore peace and  security in Bawku
