The Ministry of Education has extended the operations of the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) resolution centres to Friday, September 18, as efforts continue to clear outstanding placement cases.
Press Secretary to the Education Minister, Hashmin Mohammed, said the centres, which are located across the country, will operate from Monday to Friday to assist students who are still without placements in schools.
He disclosed that 53,887 students were initially placed under the self-placement category, with 33,726 of them having successfully secured placement in various schools so far.
The CSSPS Secretariat has also recorded 9,948 cases at resolution centres nationwide, out of which 4,531 have already been resolved.
The Ministry is hopeful that the number of unresolved cases will drop significantly before students report to school.
“The resolution centres will remain active from Monday till Friday, and we are hoping that by Friday, the numbers should be able to go down because on September 18, they will report to school,” he said on JoyNews.
The decision to extend the exercise comes after the Ministry earlier introduced the self-placement option for students who were not assigned schools during the initial placement process.
Under the arrangement, affected students can select schools with available vacancies through the self-placement system.
