Macrons Sue Candace Owens for Defamation Over Gender Conspiracy Claims

French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron, have filed a defamation lawsuit in the United States against American conservative commentator Candace Owens over what they describe as “false and harmful” allegations.

The lawsuit, filed in a U.S. court, accuses Owens of spreading unfounded claims suggesting that Brigitte Macron was born male. The legal action also references bizarre conspiracy theories involving incest and the CIA, which Owens allegedly circulated through her podcast and social media platforms.

According to court documents, the Macrons argue that the repeated and widely circulated accusations caused them “serious emotional harm and international humiliation.”

Legal Battle Highlights Cross-Border Defamation Challenges

The couple is seeking public retractions, a permanent halt to the dissemination of the claims, and financial damages.

While Brigitte Macron has previously addressed and dismissed such rumours as absurd and deeply offensive, this is the first time the French first couple has taken formal legal action in the United States over the matter.

Legal experts suggest that the high-profile case could test the boundaries of defamation law, particularly in the context of online commentary and international reputations.
