Pop star Charli XCX has officially confirmed her marriage to George Daniel, drummer of The 1975, following a viral video that sparked speculation of a secret wedding.
The couple was spotted outside Hackney Town Hall on Saturday, dressed in wedding attire and posing for photos. Daniel wore a suit and tie, while Charli XCX appeared in a white off-the-shoulder dress, paired with her signature dark sunglasses.
Hours later, the singer shared a TikTok video confirming the marriage. The post featured a humorous clip showing her walking away from the camera, pretending to be annoyed, with the caption: “When George isn’t crying when he sees me walking down the aisle.”
She added, “Luckily he did xx,” confirming the emotional reaction many fans had hoped for. The video attracted over seven million views and thousands of congratulatory messages for the newlyweds, widely dubbed “Mr and Mrs XCX” across social media.
Viral Post Follows Intimate Marriage Ceremony
A second post showed Daniel wearing Charli’s veil, giving what the singer described as “bridal party energy.” Footage captured by a passer-by suggests the couple opted for a small, private ceremony at the East London venue.
Charli XCX and George Daniel have been publicly dating for several years and announced their engagement in 2023. Their marriage marks a new chapter in a relationship that has included personal and professional collaboration.
The pair first worked together on the track Spinning, and more recently on Charli’s critically acclaimed album Brat, where Daniel is credited as co-writer and co-producer on two songs.
In June, Charli XCX headlined Glastonbury, riding the success of Brat, which has dominated social media and global charts.
From Collaboration to Marriage
Daniel also appeared during one of Charli’s London performances, joining her in the viral “Apple dance” displayed on massive concert screens.
Outside of their marriage, Daniel is known for his role in The 1975, the band behind hits like Chocolate and The Sound, fronted by Matty Healy. He has also released music as a solo artist.
Their union has been warmly received by fans, many of whom have followed their journey from collaborators to partners. With their marriage now official, the creative duo looks set to continue blending personal and musical chemistry in the spotlight.
