Two Armed Robbers Jailed 15 Years Each for Violent Attack in Atonsu Kuwait

Two men involved in a brutal armed robbery at Atonsu Kuwait in Kumasi have been sentenced to 15 years imprisonment each after a Kumasi Circuit Court found them guilty of multiple charges.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has confirmed the conviction and sentencing of Abass Kasim, 26, and Daniel Morro, also known as “China,25, who, along with three accomplices still at large, staged a violent robbery on July 31, 2021.

The gang reportedly broke into the home of a resident around 2:30 a.m., wielding a pistol and cutlasses. During the attack, they shot the victim in the abdomen, inflicted several cutlass wounds, and made away with valuables including:An iPhone 11 (GHS 5,500),A Samsung phone (GHS 500),Two Apple Watches (GHS 3,000),Two M.K. ladies’ handbags,An unspecified amount of jewelry,$600 and an undisclosed sum of Ghana cedis

Police Crack Armed Robbers Case After Victim Survives Attack

Police investigations led to the arrest of Abass Kasim on August 12, 2021. He admitted to the crime and assisted the police in apprehending his accomplice, Daniel Morro. A pistol believed to have been used during the robbery was also recovered.

The suspects were initially arraigned before Kumasi Circuit Court 4 on August 19, 2021, and remanded into custody after pleading not guilty.

However, after nearly four years of legal proceedings, they reappeared in court on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, where they were found guilty and sentenced to 15 years imprisonment on each of the following charges: Conspiracy to commit robbery, robbery, unlawful entry, abetment of crime, and possession of firearms without authority. The sentences are to run concurrently.

The convicts have since been transferred to the Kumasi Central Prisons to begin serving their terms.
