Veteran Ghanaian musician and dancer Ebenezer Asare, popularly known as Slim Buster, has voiced frustration over his unpaid royalties, revealing he has not received any disbursements from the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO) for over a decade.

Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM’s Cruise Control, the highlife icon criticized the organization’s administrative practices, alleging that system upgrades led to the deletion of historical artist records. According to Slim Buster, GHAMRO wiped its old database during a platform update instead of integrating existing artist data.

“You know, there is something called an update. The update will not wipe the old system, but rather it will upgrade it. But the problem I was told is that they wiped out the whole system and updated it. Are they fools?” Slim Buster questioned during the interview.

He added that he was instructed to re-register his catalog to resume receiving payments, a demand he declined to pursue due to frustration with the system.

Slim Buster gained prominence in the Ghanaian entertainment industry after winning the National Dance Championship in 1986. He later transitioned into music, producing notable hits throughout the 1990s and 2000s before relocating to the United Kingdom. His comments highlight ongoing complaints from veteran creators regarding historical catalog tracking and royalty collection in Ghana.
