The Bank of Ghana (BoG) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) have warned Ghanaians about a purported cryptocurrency investment platform called “Daily Wealth Guide”, describing the operation as a scam.

The two financial regulators are urging the public not to deposit money with the platform’s operators or engage with individuals promoting the scheme.

According to the regulators, the platform is allegedly attracting unsuspecting members of the public with promises of unusually high returns on their investments.

They cautioned that the activities associated with the platform amount to illegal deposit-taking, making it unsafe for the public to entrust funds to its operators.

The warning follows the circulation of a video purportedly showing President John Dramani Mahama endorsing the “Daily Wealth Guide” investment platform.

The BoG and SEC have, however, dismissed the video as fake and doctored, stressing that it should not be interpreted as an endorsement of the platform by the President.

The regulators also cautioned the public against treating the video as evidence that the platform has received approval from the government or any financial regulatory authority.

The development highlights growing concerns over the use of manipulated videos and public figures’ identities to make fraudulent investment schemes appear legitimate.

The BoG and SEC have advised Ghanaians to be cautious when approached with investment opportunities promising exceptionally high or quick returns.

They urged members of the public to verify the regulatory status of investment platforms and financial service providers before committing their money.
