Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden has put pen to paper to agree a new deal until the summer of 2030.
The England international’s contract was due to expire in June 2027, but a new deal has been agreed to continue at the Etihad.
Having come through the ranks at Manchester City, Foden has won every trophy under the tutelage of former manager Pep Guardiola.
Speaking in an interview published on the club’s official media channels, Foden said: “Committing my future to City means everything to me.
“Playing for this club is all I’ve ever wanted to do and it’s always an honour to wear the shirt.
“It’s not lost on me that I’ve been lucky enough to be part of a historic period with so many titles won, but we’re always looking to the future and trying to win more.
“I can only thank the club, staff, team-mates and fans who continue to put their faith in me and trust that I give everything I can for City, and I hope I’ll be able to repay you for years to come.”
Former Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has been drafted in to replace Guardiola, who spent 10 years at the Etihad.
Foden says he cannot wait to play under the Italian tactician, who was part of Guardiola’s management team during their treble season.
“I can’t wait to work with Enzo again. He was brilliant during the Treble season – someone all the players respected and loved working with. To have him back here is exciting,” the 26-year-old added.[Maresca]
“Personally, I know I’ve improved so much from working with our coaches and world-class squad, and as many of the legends who were here when I first broke through move on, I am excited for the next phase of my career at this great club.”
Foden made his debut as a 17-year-old in 2017 when he came on as a 75th-minute substitute in a Champions League game against Dutch side Feyenoord.
He has gone on to play over 365 games for the Manchester-based club, scoring 110 goals and winning 20 trophies.
