Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene updates Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II on major projects – road, health and education projects underway across the region, stating that several initiatives are on course for completion this year.
The update was delivered on Sunday,19th July 2026 during the Akwasidae Festival at the Manhyia Palace, where Dr. Amoakohene led a delegation from the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council to pay homage to the Asantehene.
The delegation included the Chief Executive Officer of the Tree Crops Development Authority, Dr. Andy Osei Okrah, Kumasi Mayor Richard Ofori-Agyemang Boadi, popularly known as King Zuba, members of the Regional Security Council, and representatives of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to Dr. Amoakohene, ongoing road projects include the “Ejisu–Kwaaso–Essienimpong Road, Sewua–Feyiase–Prabon Road, Ejura–Sekyedumase town roads, Fomena and Dompoase town roads, the Mankranso–Abuakwa Road, Bekwai Roundabout–Santasi Roundabout, Ahodwo Roundabout–The Ark, Anwia Nkwanta–Santasi Roundabout, Obuasi town roads, the Suame Roundabout project, Agogo town roads, and the Mosi Panin–Maame Krobo Road.”
Dr. Amoakohene, the Regional Minister also updates Otumfuo, on the status of the Sewua Regional Hospital, the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital Cardiovascular Centre, the KNUST Medical Centre and ongoing Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) educational infrastructure projects across the region.
Dr. Amoakohene said many of the projects are expected to be completed before the end of the year. He further announced that work is expected to begin soon on the Bosomtwe–Kuntanase Road, the Atwea–Asuafu Road and the completion of the Sataso Bridge.
In a statement shared after the event, the Regional Minister said, “these projects demonstrate the government’s commitment to infrastructure development under President John Dramani Mahama”
He expressed appreciation to the President and the Minister for Roads and Highways for their support. He also thanked the Asantehene for what he described as his leadership and commitment to the development of Asanteman.
The latest briefing continues a practice established earlier this year, during which the Regional Minister has periodically updated the Asantehene on government projects and sought the support of the traditional leadership in advancing development initiatives across the region.
