Midfielder Thomas Partey has sent an emotional message following Ghana’s exit from the ongoing World Cup.

The Black Stars succumbed to a 1-0 defeat against Colombia in the round of 32 at the Kansas City Stadium.

Ghana were hoping for a berth in the round of 16 of the ongoing tournament, having qualified as one of the best third-placed teams from the group stage.

Carlos Queiroz’s men started their campaign with a 1-0 win against North American side Panama, when midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi scored in the dying embers of the game.

Ghana put up a majestic and resolute performance to secure a point against England in their second game.

The draw against the Three Lions and results from other games meant the defeat against Croatia had no damning effect, but instead set up a date against Colombia, who finished top of their group, in the round of 32.

Ghana were expected to stage another upset by eliminating the South American side, but Los Cafeteros had other ideas.

Nestor Lorenzo’s men took an early lead courtesy of Jhon Arias, and that was enough to send the Black Stars out of the competition.

The defeat sent the whole nation into a state of melancholy, and Partey, who is currently plying his trade in La Liga, has gone to social media to show his disappointment and to thank Ghanaians for their support.
