Construction has officially commenced on the dilapidated Kotokuom bridge in the Atwima Mponua district of the Ashanti Region, following years of neglect.
“Work is ongoing at Kotokuom to restore the collapsed bridge, ensuring safe and efficient passage for all,” stated Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene on his Facebook page.
The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, ordered the temporary closure of the bridge on March 4, 2025.
According to him, the bridge, which connects several farming communities in the district, must remain closed until the necessary repair work is completed.
In line with the Minister’s commitment, work has now begun on the bridge.

In the meantime, alternative routes have been established to facilitate public movement and minimize disruptions.
The regional minister expressed the government’s dedication to restoring infrastructure and enhancing connectivity for all.
He commended the road minister for his prompt action.
“A big thank you to the Kotokuom community for your patience, understanding, and support as we work towards a lasting solution. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated,” he further stated.
