The Vice-President and Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mahammudu Bawumia has reassured small-scale miners in mining communities that the Minerals Development Bank will support them in achieving millionaire status.
He emphasized that miners will have access to favorable loans for acquiring equipment to conduct their operations responsibly, thereby advancing their businesses.
“You will transition from small-scale miners to medium and large-scale miners, paving the way for you to achieve millionaire status,” he said.
Speaking at a campaign rally in Akrofoum, the Vice President highlighted the government’s commitment to granting mining permits to miners for the responsible execution of their work through the community mining scheme.
He also noted that the establishment of a mineral development bank specifically for miners, similar to the Agric Development Bank for farmers will significantly support them.
“I am pleased to announce the establishment of a mineral development bank, dedicated to supporting responsible mining practices, similar to the Agric development bank for farmers,” he said.
“We will collaborate with the Geological Survey Department to utilize their maps pinpointing gold-rich areas, ensuring a strategic approach to setting up community mining schemes without resorting to trial and error,” he further stated.
