The Vice President and Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party has urged voters in the Sekyere Afram Plains constituency to vote overwhelmingly for him and the governing NPP.
Historically, the constituency, which is predominantly inhabited by people of Northern descent, has consistently supported the opposition NDC since 2012.
The NDC has been campaigning for John Mahama, citing his Northern heritage as a reason for their support.
Speaking at a campaign rally at Drobonso, Dr. Bawumia, who also hails from the North, encouraged the constituents to vote for him, because he’s a Northerner as well.
He also touted the NPP government’s accomplishments over the past 8 years, including the successful implementation of the free SHS policy, the DRIP initiative, and the restoration of teachers’ and nurses’ allowances.

Dr. Bawumia further pledged to introduce new initiatives such as Mechanized Agric centers, a women’s empowerment trust fund, and a Minerals Development Bank among others to advance development in the constituency.
The NPP’s parliamentary candidate in the constituency, George Ackom, stressed the importance of choosing him and the NPP to drive the much-needed development in the area.

He noted that only the NPP has the capacity to bring significant progress to the constituency, pointing to initiatives like Agenda III, DRIP, and Zipline as evidence of the party’s commitment to development.
Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman and a prominent figure within the NPP, also urged the constituents to support the NPP in the upcoming elections.
He underscored the party’s dedication to advancing the welfare and progress of the constituency.
