The Devastating Impact of Illegal Mining in Ghana

It is both shocking and deeply concerning that a significant number of individuals involved in illegal mining in Ghana have families—wives and children—who hold dual citizenship.

These miners, driven by selfish greed, are not only plundering the nation’s resources but are also laying waste to our forest reserves and polluting our water bodies with impunity.

What makes this situation even more alarming is the fact that these individuals are fully aware of the long-term destruction they are causing.

They know that their children, who hold foreign citizenship, will not reside in Ghana to suffer the consequences of the environmental catastrophe they are creating.

This blatant disregard for the future of our country and its people is unacceptable and must be addressed with the full force of the law.

The NDC remains committed to protecting Ghana’s natural resources and ensuring that the future generations of Ghanaians have a safe and sustainable environment in which to thrive.

“We call on all citizens to join us in the fight against illegal mining and to hold accountable those who, in their pursuit of profit, seek to destroy our beloved nation.”
