This year, Simone Biles solidified her legacy as the greatest gymnast of all time after leading the USA gymnastic team to their gold-medal triumph in Paris.
The American team, made up of Jordan Chiles, Hezly Rivera, Jade Carey and Suni Lee and led by Simone Biles, described as the “Goat of gymnastics” finished atop the podium for the third time, carrying home yet another Olympic gold medal on Tuesday, July 30 at the Bercy Arena.
The team finished nearly six points ahead of the silver medal winners Italy, with Brazil coming behind with bronze.
In a rather sarcastic turn of events, however, Simone Biles after the games shared a photo of herself, holding the American flag aloft with the caption: ‘lack of talent, lazy, olympic champions’.
This sarcastic remark was of course directed at MyKayla Skinner, who sparked controversy by questioning the work ethic and dedication of the USA’s Olympic squad in a now-deleted YouTube video.

Simone Biles: Background
Born in Columbus, Ohio, on March 14, 1997, Simone Biles started her gymnastics career at only six years old. She skyrocketed to fame in 2013 when she clinched two gold medals at the Antwerp Championship, including the coveted all-around title.
It was during this time that she introduced the world to a groundbreaking move on the floor exercise —the Biles, a double layout with a half twist, now cemented into gymnastics history.
The seven-time Olympic medalist has made an indelible impact on the sport with five gymnastics skills named after her.
With four World Championship golds in 2014 and another four in 2015, Simone Biles was a game-changer for the USA team.
