Police have shot and killed four robbers during a fierce shootout on the Bekwai-Fomena Highway in the Ashanti Region.
The incident happened on Sunday, April 13, 2025, after the robbers mounted a roadblock and attacked travelers.
Responding swiftly to distress calls, police engaged them in a gun battle, killing four on the spot.
Two wounded robbers fled into a nearby bush, prompting a manhunt by the Ashanti South Police Command.
Investigators believe the suspects were part of a gang terrorising residents and commuters in the Adansi area.
Police say investigations are ongoing to identify the deceased robbers and uncover more details about the gang’s operations.
