In a bold move to reshape the future of STEM education in Ghana, the QuizTalk Stem Quiz was officially launched on Thursday, September 26, 2025, at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) School of Business. The event marked the beginning of a nationwide initiative aimed at boosting science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) skills among basic school students from Basic 5 to Basic 9.

The launch ceremony began at 10:00 a.m. and brought together students, educators, and key stakeholders in education and governance. The quiz competition, which targets young learners across the country, seeks to promote innovation, enhance critical thinking, and foster a passion for science and technology in a fun, engaging, and competitive format.

A Platform to Build Future Innovators

The QuizTalk Stem Quiz designed to provide a platform where students can test their knowledge, improve problem-solving skills, and develop the confidence needed to pursue careers in STEM fields. By targeting learners at the basic education level, the quiz sets out to lay a strong foundation for a new generation of scientists, technologists, engineers, and entrepreneurs in Ghana.

Vice Dean of the Faculty of Education and Communication Studies (FECs) at AAMUSTED, Dr. Philip Oti Agyen, delivered a compelling keynote address. He emphasized the growing global importance of education, stating, “Education has become so important and a commodity throughout the whole world.” Dr. Agyen went further to define education beyond the classroom walls, adding, “Education is not only structured in the four walls of the classroom; when you leave school, you’re still to be educated through all experiences.”

He underscored that education is a lifelong process centered around acquiring knowledge, developing skills, and cultivating the right attitude. His message aligned with the central aim of the quiz: to make learning meaningful, practical, and enduring for young minds.
