Police Probe Alleged Attack on Asantehene’s Convoy

The Ghana Police Service has begun investigating an alleged attack on the convoy of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, in Techiman, Bono East Region.

The incident allegedly occurred as the Asantehene returned from a funeral in Nkoranza. Initial reports indicate that some individuals, reportedly local youth from Techiman, threw stones at the convoy’s buses.

In a statement, the police assured the public of their dedication to uncovering the facts of the case. They mentioned that they are collaborating with the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi and other key stakeholders in Techiman to support the investigation.

The incident has garnered attention due to the Asantehene’s esteemed status. The police have called for calm as they work to determine the circumstances surrounding the alleged attack.

In a statement, they said, “We urge the public to remain calm and cooperate with the police as the investigation into the matter continues.”
