The Koforidua Police divisional Command is investigating the drowning of a nine-year-old girl at Tonyx Hotel in Aberewa Nkwanta, Eastern Region. The tragic incident occurred on Sunday while the girl was at the hotel with her father and five siblings.
Reports suggest she did not join swimming activities but was taking pictures with other children near the pool. Her lifeless body was discovered at the bottom of the pool after a search was initiated when she went missing.
She was rushed to the Eastern Regional Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival by health officials.
The hotel management has pledged full cooperation with police investigations and is expected to address the media soon.
