Interior Minister Henry Quartey has announced on Wednesday, July 31, that Monday, August 5, 2024, has been designated as a public holiday to honor Founders’ Day.
This decision was made in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act, (Act 601).
Founders’ Day, which falls on Sunday, August 4, is a statutory public holiday.
However, since it falls on a Sunday, President Akufo-Addo has declared the following day, Monday, August 5, as an additional public holiday.
The public is advised to observe Monday, August 5, as a public holiday nationwide.
