Former Majority Leader Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu has refuted claims swirling online that he advised the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to change its presidential candidate.
A story published on February 27, 2025, by Whatsup News, titled “CHANGE YOUR CANDIDATE! KYEI MENSAH BONSU ADVISES NPP,” falsely attributed this statement to the former Suame Legislator.
In a statement, he clarified that the headline is entirely misleading and does not accurately represent his views or statements.
“Under normal circumstances, Hon. Kyei Mensah Bonsu would not have felt compelled to respond, given his well-established reputation among Ghanaians. However, due to the widespread circulation, it has become necessary to clarify the matter,” the statement read.
It further stated that the claims made in the publication are not supported by any verified facts, interviews or credible sources.
“Hon. Kyei Mensah Bonsu has not made any such remarks regarding the NPP or its candidates,” the statement indicated.
Readers are therefore advised to consult authentic news sources for accurate political updates.
“Hon Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu and his office not only disclaim the publication, but urge readers to treat it with contemptuous disregard,” the statement added.
