In preparation for the upcoming 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections, the Electoral Commission (EC) has unveiled the timeline for candidate nominations.
From August 2 to September 13, 2024, individuals interested in running for office can submit their nomination forms.
To officially enter the Presidential race, candidates must pay a fee of One Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC100,000) to the EC.
However, female candidates and persons with disabilities have a reduced fee of Seventy-Five Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC 75,000).
Candidates seeking the Presidential position must ensure that their nomination forms are signed by the candidates themselves and at least two registered voters from each District Assembly.
The EC emphasized that payments for nomination fees should be made via the Banker’s draft, addressed to the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission.
Nomination forms can be downloaded from the Commission’s website starting August 2, 2024.
With the nomination period set to open soon, aspiring candidates are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the requirements and procedures outlined by the EC for a smooth nomination process.
