BBC Industrials Supports Kumasi Central Prison with Paint

BBC Industrials has generously donated a number of paint buckets to the Kumasi Central Prison in an effort to enhance the appearance of the facility.

Concerns had been raised by prison authorities regarding the deteriorating condition of parts of one of Ghana’s longest prisons.

Recognizing the need for rehabilitation, the organization took the initiative to provide paint supplies to help improve the structure.

Mr. Ihab Kotob, the branch manager of BBC Industrials, noted that this act of corporate social responsibility was aimed at supporting the prison.

CSP Alex Adjei, 3IC of the station, received the donation on behalf of the Regional Commander and expressed gratitude towards BBC Industrials for their contribution.

He said the paint donation would help in revitalizing the prison building and called for continued collaboration between the prison service and BBC Industrials to address existing challenges.

Mr. Adjei also urged the public and other organizations to join efforts in supporting the Kumasi Central Prison.

The facility currently faces severe overcrowding issues, with a population of nearly 1800 inmates exceeding its intended capacity of 600 spaces.

This overcrowding problem is not unique to Kumasi but is a widespread issue in prisons across the country, raising concerns among various stakeholders about the rights of incarcerated and remanded prisoners.

In addition to overcrowding, inadequate funding for the skills training programs and low feeding fees are also pressing concerns for prison authorities.
