Voting in the Bantama Constituency faced a one-hour delay this morning at the Rovii Cinema polling station. The delay occurred after party agents raised concerns about a cracked ballot box designated for the parliamentary election.
Scheduled to begin at 7 a.m., voting commenced around 8 a.m. after officials addressed the issue. The party agents insisted on replacing the faulty ballot box to ensure the election’s transparency and fairness.
Speaking off the record, a party agent at the Bantama constituency explained that their decision to delay voting stemmed from their commitment to conducting a credible election. They said they would rather delay and ensure everything goes well than proceed with a faulty ballot box.
According to Orange FM media personnel on the grounds, election materials arrived promptly at 6:30 a.m. However, the cracked ballot box was discovered during the setup, sparking concerns among the agents.
Presiding Officer Osei Kofi confirmed that acquiring a replacement ballot box would take time. He explained that the vehicle distributing election materials across the constituency needed to complete its route before delivering a new box to Rovii Cinema Polling Station A.
“Unless distribution to the last polling center in the Constituency is done, the car will not make a turn to the Rovii Cinema Polling station A,” Osei Kofi said.
Frustrated voters already in line expressed disappointment but remained patient, understanding the importance of addressing the issue to maintain election integrity.
The situation was solved after an hour, and voting has since commenced. Further updates will be provided as the elections progress in the Bantama Constituency.
