The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has reaffirmed his commitment to resolving the ongoing conflict at Bawku in the Upper East Region of Ghana. He made this affirmation during a courtesy call on the Asantehene by the regional minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene and some Members of parliament on 17th March, 2025 at the Manhyia Palace.

He also acknowledged that gun violence in the Bawku municipal has reduced, however, he stated that conversations are ongoing to end the conflict and restore peace.

“We are still on the Bawku issue. Now gun violence is on the low. I have invited the leaders of the parties involved; Bawku Naaba and the Nayiri. I have also spoken with the Mossi and Hausa ethnic groups.

The Bawku conflict has been persistent over time, and has led to the loss of lives and destruction of property.

Asantehene also urged all parties involved to lay down their weapons and resort to dialogue to resolve their differences.
