Anloga Junction undergoes desilting following Orange FM report a few weeks ago

Anloga Junction, one of the flood-prone areas in Kumasi, is finally undergoing a thorough desilting exercise after the situation was highlighted in a documentary produced by Orange FM titled “Submerged Streets.”

The documentary illustrated the severe accumulation of silt and waste materials in the stream, emphasizing the need for authorities to take action to prevent flooding ahead of the rainy season.

Residents expressed their deep concerns about the issue, noting that waste items, including plastics and scrap materials, were significant contributors to the flooding.

The clogged drainage system was preventing the free flow of rainwater.

In response, NADMO, with support from several institutions including the Kumasi Compost and Recycling Plant (KCARP), has initiated major desilting efforts in the area.

The Ashanti Regional Public Relations Officer of NADMO, Prince Ahmed Tijani Abubakar, informed Fatawu Bayaga, the reporter behind the story, that his concerns had been addressed.

“Fatawu Bayaga, your major concern is solved,” he wrote in a WhatsApp message.

Fatawu Bayaga also commended NADMO for their swift response in tackling this challenge.
