Election Focus: Chaos Over Alleged Food Distribution at Ablekuma West Polling Station

vote buying using food

Earlier today at the Assemblies of God Church polling station in Ablekuma West Constituency, voters objected to a pickup truck distributing food.

The truck, reportedly linked to incumbent MP Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, was hooted at and driven away from the polling center.

Eyewitnesses claimed the food packs were allegedly provided by Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, who is seeking re-election against National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate Kweku Addo.

But according to Doris Boakye, an NPP member in Ablekuma West, they had just brought food for polling agents and EC officials.

“We just brought breakfast for polling agents and Electoral Commission officials. This food isn’t for voters,” she said. She further insisted that the gesture should not have sparked controversy.

Police officers at the scene intervened to maintain order and ensure voting proceeded without further disruptions.
