Election 2024: 13 Presidential Aspirants Cleared, Others Disqualified.

The Electoral Commission (EC) has released the list of candidates qualified to contest in the 2024 elections coming up on December 7.

The communique read: “Following the successful conduct of the Filing of Nominations from the 9th of September to the 13th of September, 2024, the Commission instituted a thorough examination of the Nomination Forms submitted by the Candidates to ensure conformity with requirements as set out in law.


The Electoral Commission wishes to inform the General Public that the following persons have successfully gone through the Nomination process and qualify to contest as candidates in the 2024 Presidential Election…”

Qualified political parties are: Mahamudu Bawumi (New Patriotic Party), John Dramani Mahama (National Democratic Congress), Christian Kwabena Andrews (Ghana Union Movement). Daniel Augustus Lartey Jnr (Great Consolidated Popular Party), Akua Donkor (Ghana Freedom Party), Hassan Abdulai Ayariga (All People’s Congress), Kofi Akpaloo (Liberal Party of Ghana). Mohammed Frimpong (National Democratic Party) and Nana Akosua Frimpomaa (Convention People’s Party)

Contesting as independent candidates are; George Twum-Barima-Adu, Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, Nana Kwame Bediako and Kofi Koranteng.

Bernard Mornah of the People’s National Convention (PNC) and Janet Nabla of the People’s National Party (PNP) were disqualified from contesting.

The announcement was issued by the EC on Friday, September 20, 2024.
